Is any any way to make this work at all?

Is there any any way to make this work at all in order to have the standard template design as I wanted to?

Also, is there any way of changing default fonts to something else otehr than Times New Roman? I also have under preferences for Fonts all to Arial. But appears to stay on Times New Roman when creating a new mail message.
